Our partner Phases has released a data copy tool for Podio to help you address this challenge:
    https://podio.com/extensions/51

Another option is to share a private app pack and import data via excel after installing in the new workspace.

Right! I searched everywhere, no way! I spent time in configuring my workspace with all what I need, and now I've to re-do the same in the new workspace... what a waste of time! Podio team, please consider these requests!

  • You can actually also share your entire workspace to the private app market, then install all the apps in one click?

Maybe this can work if you don't want to clone the apps individually.

This is a much needed feature, especially when consulting

I agree this is a MUST HAVE. Because it's not available, we're looking at other options.

@Sara, putting workspaces up to the marketplace works though it is cumbersome, esp when you modify your template. A direct intra-organization sharing tool would be much better.

Ditto. This would be a big time saver as we have different workspaces for each client and want to use the same apps for all of these workspaces.

I need this too. I want to set up the same apps for each new client but don't want to do it on a client by client basis.

I would also want to be able to update the 'master' workspace and it update all the live ones too.

Still hoping for this feature ASAP. Currently spending hours copying workspaces and reconfiguring apps for all of our new clients. Would also be great if when cloning an app, it doesn't bring you to the app in the NEW workspace but keeps you in the workspace that you're cloning apps from. I seem to be wasting a lot of time scrolling back to the other workspace and clicking through menus to clone the next app.

Yes, yes yes. I posted a similar request about this a while back, including Vee Ridgley's comment about updating a master workspace and pushing out the updates to all the child workspaces. This is extremely cumbersome now - I have workspaces for every client and when I make an improvement to the master it takes a very long time to push out this update to all the client workspaces.

Publishing to the Store is OK but it doesn't publish content. I have a lot of pre-populated content & templates I want to push out to new client workspaces as well.

One more vote for this feature! :) Especially if we can have it copy over app data (files, activity etc).

Agreed... This is a necessity. If packaging Apps for the App Market wasn't such a pain in the ass I would wholeheartedly agree that packaging Apps could be a great alternative to adding a "clone workspace" feature. The main problem is that last App most of us packaged up looks nothing like the current one it's evolved into.

    Looking forward to Podio 2.0!

Agree, really need this feature. That and better data management between workspaces.

    Great work though dev's!

Upvote; this would be great and especially with the possibility to add the existing files!

I, and my whole organisation badly need a feature like this. A significant amount of time is spent adding and configuring apps. So much time would be saved by cloning a fully configured Workspace as a template for all other Workspaces.

Absolutely upvote. We are waiting for this feature to finally migrate the rest of our Workspaces from Basecamp to Podio

Lots of people upvoting but are you actually clicking on the upvote button next the original poster's avatar or just typing upvote?

The reason I ask is because I've just worked out I was doing this wrong myself ;-)

This is really needed. I manually have to create a workspace for every client and then clone each app. It is very time consuming. The app market doesn't cut the mustard because you can't get pre-loaded app content. In conjunction with this I often update security alerts, or messages to each workspace. I can spend half an hour or more posting one message to all workspaces. There needs to be a way to post a message to a specific app (or general Activity) line to multiple workspaces.

    @Mike:
Why do you have to post the message in each workspace? Can't you send a message to all users of organisation? And if it's necessary: Each workspace Activity stream has it's own E-Mail-Address (at the bottom of the page), which you can use to create a new status. Collect the addresses of all activity streams once and send one message via E-Mail every time you have to post that status.
