Who wants a free run of our Podio Print system? We haven't built the account system to allow sign-ups and probably won't for a while, but I'd like to get some feedback on the usability.

All we need is the following:

    APP ID and TOKEN
    - Go to your App by clicking the icon at the top
    - Click the spanner in the box at the right
    - In the menu that appears, click the Developer option
    - You will see the App ID and Tokens in the top section

    CLIENT ID and CLIENT SECRET
    - Click on your account link in the top bar at the right (The icon is a silhouette of a head and shoulders)
    - In the menu that appears, click 'Account Settings'
    - In the screen that appears, click on the API Keys tab at the top
    - In the 'Application Name' box enter a name (Eg. Podio App Printing)
    - In the 'Full Domain' box enter secure.syml.net
    - Click the green Generate API Key button
    - You will see the Client ID and Client Secret appear below

    VIEW ID:
    - Go to your app
    - Choose a view you want to print
    - You should see the VIEW ID in the browser's address line. It should be like this: /views/1234567
    - The View ID is just the number at the end

Send this through to jon@sympact.com.au and I'll send you details on how to print.

I'm limiting this to the first 5 people. No obligation to buy if we ever put a price on this.

Every CRM has the ability to print a report. Possibly going back to Zoho. This is mind boggling. truly!

I agree what is going on. Podio are promoting lots of other features - workflows, etc etc but NO PRINTING. is there something so fundamentally flawed with Podio that its not possible????

As I stated before: not offering a print solution for views is sort of ridiculous!! Would be extremely easy to do, and so helpful for so many users! Cannot understand Podio at all in this case!

seems to me Podio is trying to mimick 37signals principles... 10 years later.

Any news Podio? Seems a lot of people are asking for this basic feature.

Generating printable reports is a big part of what we do. It would be great if the world could live on iPads and laptops, but we still have 'sit around a big table' production meetings and need to have up-to-date reports in hand.

I really am curious as to why Podio is so resistant to at least supporting the most basic version of this, making printing from the browser work. So many people have been asking, for so long, and every time the Podio CSRs say "thank you for your feedback" and "we have no plans to support this". It's not even adding a feature, it's fixing the bug which breaks the browser printing.

For the table view, which in my guess would be the main view that people are trying to print, there is a table class="data" (inside the <div class="items-table items-container">). If you reduce the page to this, using a browser extension such as Aardvark or HackTheWeb, then the browser's own print command does a perfectly acceptable job. Is it not possible to set a print stylesheet, so that nothing but this table is printed? Or a command that generates a new page with just this table, that can be printed?

I know that there's nothing a developer hates more than clients saying "this should be easy"; but given the many customers who have been asking for this for so long, perhaps the least that Podio could do is explain why it's so much harder than it seems, and why you're choosing not to address it?

This is a basic feature imho, really cannot understand why it is not on top of the priority list.
    Thanks.

I AGREE! We need to make sure we can print in filtered views. This has been a feature that is critical that has been missing for a while now.

A+ Charlie! Strong work. This is a great feature to have available and will be a big workflow improvement over the extra step of exporting to Excel and then printing or making PDF from there. Plus the Podio views are prettier anyway. :)

This was a request a long, long time ago, with excuses from Podio about not in development plan. Well, it looks like it was in the development plan, but no mention of this or updates on progress.

This is good news for Podio users now. However, too little too late for us. We have moved away from Podio because of this lack of listening, lack of support and the lack of communication only helps to reinforce our decision.

Suggest Podio that you get better at listening and talking to your customer

Here there is a "phrase" :) smth like that "God makes poor people loose their donkey first, and then make them find it again in order to make them happy. That's what Podio made us.. :)

This is fantastic that we've finally had action on this, thank you.

(However please note that on Firefox it doesn't actually work for more than one page - it would be great if this could be fixed quickly so that this doesn't fall at the last hurdle.)

Am I missing something? How do you generate a printable report? simply hitting print in the browser window puts half the data outside the printable space? Is there a print button, or layout or view for designing the print layout?

Hey, Charlie. This was good news, but not the expected one. Feature is too basic, doesn't help with official forms of our company. We should be able to change the layout, for putting additional information, logo, etc. When I print a item from database, I need it to be able to select what goes in and what does not. I believe many others too... with this template customization limitation, Podio doesn't communicate very well in our company. Despite generating information to print, I cannot use our quotation template to send to a costumer, due its lack of title, layout organization, linkage to confidential information in same database, etc. Cannot send a service order, once I need to follow certain apresentation rules, which I cannot configure. We have overhere other cloud services and all of them have a solution for that. Some allow you to use a page editor to personalize and them to save printing templates (just as saving views). Others use the possibility to importing excel or word files with codes to arrange where to insert the data to print. Any of those would work. What does not work is to have a very flexible to operate tool so limited in extracting data from it! Please, give us a feed back about that...

Thanks for all your comments and feedback on this!

@Andrew We are aware of that it has been a long wait for you before this feature saw the light of day. There has been many other improvements with a higher priority and unfortunately we can't do all at once. We are constantly following and taking your input in, to prioritise our new feature releases. We do listen, for sure. I also want to share with you this blog post that co-founder Anders Pollas been writing on this subject: http://blog.podio.com/2014/04/15/listening-learning/

@Ben Thanks! Yes, this is a current limitation in Firefox and we are working with Firefox to help us fix it.

@Ida You find this by going to the browser menu and click on File > Print. Do you find it?

@Zach You can print a single report via the browser directly. To print all reports in the report overlay you'll need to re-load the page once first to focus on the overlay. Then click and print from the browser. Try it out - does it work?

@Renan This feature covers basic printing options in Podio and specifically printing views as requested in this thread. It’s the first version of this and it might be built on it in the future. To create customised templates for printing with company logo and additional information etc we have a few extensions that you can use. Here is one that I can recommend for example: https://podio.com/extensions/6

Please don't stop comment and give us your feedback, it's very much appreciated :-)

    @Charlie - you wrote:

Thanks for the recommendation. I looked at this, it sounded good. It says it's paid. When I click the link to go the APT site (http://hoist.techego.com/printing_template/) I am offered only the choice to sign-in or register, no information about what the cost is. I tried going to the domain home (http://hoist.techego.com/) in the hopes of seeing some corporate info that might include pricing, I see a basic 'it works' confirmation that the webserver is running. But I'm brave, so I enter my email address into the 'register' box. I am immediately taken to a Podio page which says:

APT is requesting access to your Podio account

By allowing APT to connect to Podio you will be sharing:

Full access to your Podio account
    Read, edit and delete permissions
    Access to your contact list

At this stage I am underwhelmed! The 'extensions' page on podio.com makes the product looks good, and you recommend it. However from there it was downhill: a page with no information about the product or maker, on an unconfigured web server, and after the single interaction of entering my email address I am asked to give it full access to everything on Podio (NB this is for printing reports - why would it need anything but read access, to anything but particular workspaces?).

I'm sure this is an excellent product. Maybe I want to buy it and it will be worth whatever the charge is. But viewed as a case study for your extensions ecosystem, that really needs work. Can you work with the vendors to improve this situation?

@Ben as these extensions are made by third party developers and are not a part of Podio as such, I can't change the design of the sign-up page for this I'm afraid. I hope that makes sense? You can contact the guys behind this extension to get more information regarding the details of function and pricing here: http://www.techego.com/
    I hope that helps :-)

@Charlie I appreciate that but you could adjust the extensions directory pages, e.g. https://podio.com/extensions/6, to include as standard information about pricing and perhaps also about required permissions. Right now the customer experience is not great. Thanks for the link to the developer's home page though!

I think the link in your extensions directory should really be to http://www.techego.com/apps/apt
