    Hi guys,

Just wanted to follow up on this post and make sure that you're ok on the files front in Podio.

As Sara is pointing at, Podio is designed to work a bit differently with files. We think of a folder for files as an app item. So if you have a projects app you create an item for your project, in which you attach the relevant documents for the project.

When you need to get an overview of all the files you have attached in your entire workspace you can go to the workspace homepage, click the wrench just above the Invite button, and choose Workspace Files. Here you'll see all the files attached to your workspace and you can filter for relevancy.

We will not see folders in the traditional sense in Podio, but we do have a files app in which you can also store all your files if you like. You can find this here https://podio.com/market/apps/295-files-library

Excellent system, but....The ultimate viability of this service [for companies like us] relies on having folders to organise files.  I had high hopes but without a structure by which to organise files [not tags], it has limited use for our business.

    Hey guys,

I am curious to hear if you have already tried to use an app for this (perhaps a project app to store files below the related project)?

agree. the apps are a bit clunky to look at. it will be good to have related apps in one folder..

Having a "files" field type would help this concept of folders too.

This https://podio.com/market/apps/295-files-library let's you create folders. Still a bit basic, but it works.

I'd still like to see a "File" field type, just like "Image" field type. For example, in a single app, you could have these fields (asterisk = file field type):

    Deal Name
    Closing Date
    *Initially-Executed Contract
    *Contract Supplementals
    *Inspection Reports
    *Closing/Settlement Statement

    Or

    Client Name
    Due Date
    *Copy of Contract
    *Client's Current/Old Logo
    *Client-Approved Final Logo

    Hi Cliff,

I definitely see your point, and how file fields could make sense. I've shared your feedback with the product team, so they can review it in further improvements to files management in Podio.

    Thanks again.

    I second the OP request/comments.

Mette—it becomes too cumbersome to have an app to store groups of files and then relate them back to another app or item, when it would be so much easier to allow folder organization within the file feature for an item.

There's a lot of great logic with the configuration of the Podio system, but some times the most common sense solution is the best solution.

I am trying to put 4 excel spreadsheets from one folder into PODIO.  They have "links" from File A,B & C to File D.  If they are not in the same folder, the links don't work when shared.

    Any suggestions?
