Default values
I would be easier to add lots of items if you can define default values for each field, especially when using E-mail to App.
For example: I'm forwarding support@mycompany.com to an app, so it would be great if 'Status' would automatically be set to 'New'.

Does ANYONE have a status on this issue... I find it VERY strange that this feature was not a part of the latest big release.
I have a post about it here
https://help.podio.com/hc/communities/public/questions/201917427-Default-values-to-fields?locale=en-us -
Still no news about this as far as I know. Every field should have a default value but some of them with the option to start with would make us so much more happy. It's not too hard to implement especially for the benefits it gives. We manage our time sheets with Podio and every day we have to input those values:
When: Always current date
Who: Always self
How long: Type durationIt would only make sens to allow the first two fields to have default values. This adds tremendous amounts of clicks for our larger apps.
I still think that with small tweaks here and there that Podio has huge potential. Well done.

Agree entirely with Vincent Poirier - can I add my heartfelt plea that this feature is implemented asap.? It can't be hard to code and would so much to Podio's productivity gains. I think it's likely the absence of default values puts some prospective organisations off choosing Podio, when generally is excellent.

AGAIN I agree - And why does it appear that Podio for a very long time has avoided this request. I cannot be that difficult to allow a default value of [CurrentUser] or equal. This will allow a workflow where a time report can be filed with preset user detail - and only the hour registration to be added.. And there are lots of other possibilities..
And YES - we do not use Podio fully yet - since it is useless for project management and time registration... Simply because the developer must select the project, issue and own user profile for each time registration !!!
-
It kind of pisses me off when Podio simply does not read the input... Everybody who requested this several places KNOWS by now that a default value can be made like explained.. But what is requested is to "have the field select a programmable value - like a [current-user] or [some-field-in-the-app].. but Podio simply ignores these requests :-(
May I should write it in danish since it must be very difficult to understand when requested in english? -
@Alf Døf, your request has been added and shared with team. The reason for moving the old requests "default value" to completed was to make sure new Podio users will know how to create static default values as this will solve most use-cases.
Are you already using the calculation field? You can also use this to create some sort of programmable default values via Javascript.Cheers,

+1 on Alf's answer. This is just bad customer service. Not that it is not implemented but the way the thread is closed. I can imagine at least 5 reasons why Team Podio decided for this and I don't think Podio intended to ignore us. Still it creates the perception of ignorance. So either mark this and every such thread complete or simply create a new thread and ask everybody to put their respectful input into that thread. Or maybe, just maybe solve it? Probably it is waaaay too complicated. Anyway the issue has been lingering on for a long time for any field type you can imagine.

I have moved this request to an open feature request as many of you are asking for the option to set more default values than Podio currently offers.
See the above official answer for the options available for setting default values with a calculation field and category field.
@Alf @Akos please submit a private support ticket if you would like assistance with using the calculation field to set default values.
