Markup in Text Widgets

I'm trying to create dynamic text widgets that would require Markup for tables and other formatting.

However, I can't seem to get markup to work in text widgets. Any markup code is displayed as code.

Is this a short-coming of text widgets, or by design, or is it just a shortcoming of the text widget editor where if I added markup via the API it would actually work?

  Hi Andreas,

  Text widgets only handle plain text so any HTML you dump in there will not be displayed. We should probably allow markdown to be used at some point, but currently only plain text will work.

  Yes, allowing MarkDown in text widgets would be INCREDIBLY helpful. If we could insert images from dynamic links, we wouldn't have to have a cron job that continually removes and adds images (eg for dashboard graphs).

  I needed to add a line break in a widget by the API, using "\n" worked. Maybe not useful to you, but better than nothing :)
