Podio IOS url scheme

I also second to add/improve URL scheme for the Podio mobile apps. It kind of works, but only on IOS it seems.
Our usecase: we geocode each address in the customers app (I know about the location field, but we decided against using it) and store the coordinates and a link to our map script. This is basically a simple PHP script generating a Google Map - with the added value that we show all the other customers on it too. This can be used for tour planning like "which other customers are nearby". On the map I show markers with some basic info about the customer but also provide a "details" link pointing to the Podio item. This works ok on the web, but not really when using the Podio apps. Then it tries to open the customer detail view in a browser view which is not ideal and also brings up a login on the first time. So not really what we want.
The idea was now to use the app URL scheme to bring up the customer details in the Podio app instead. Like I wrote above, on Android there is nothing happening at all - in IOS it seems to fire and does indeed bring up the details view, but there is the problem, that the browser view stays open and the details are opened in the background and are shown when you close the map.
If somebody has a workaround I would be glad to hear, but I think this should be fixed/introduced in the mobile apps.

Just think if you could deep link to all URLs, then you could jump directly to a filtered view. Take the case of an inventory app where you had QR codes on boxes, bins or storage areas and you could scan them and jump directly to the Podio app that then shows you a view of all of the items in that physical storage unit. Or any physical item could be scanned to retrieve it's data. I scan air conditioner filters to see when they were installed or near a light bulb to see what type it is. The list could go on and on.

@Sebastian - I am having some issues related to opening certain links via the iOS url scheme. Specifically a url where you are creating a new item. For example "podio://x-callback-url/openURL?url=https://podio.com/casham/opsadmin/apps/opstasks/items/new" launches the Podio app but then opens a web preview page and prompts for user login. We are trying to deep link to a "Create New Item" view.

Hi i was wondering if this has been enabled to open a NEW item not in a Web preview but in the App in a new item. Specifically I want to add an iCON to Home page to link to this to an an Expense.
Thanks for your support in advance!

Hi again,
In the latest version of the app (4.1.5) released on Thursday, I added support to open any Podio URL through an URL scheme. Here's the format:
podio://x-callback-url/openURL?url=<url>
Just replace the <url> with the actual item URL, such as "https://myorg.podio.com/somespace/apps/products/items/203". Also, make sure that link is URL encoded.
So for example, if you encode that full URL as a QR code and use an app like Barkodo or Scan, it will open up the Podio app and show the native view for that item.
Hope this is helpful to you guys, and thanks for the feedback.

Sebastian, this is great. Is it a possibility to have this type of URL (in addition to or in place of the standard URL) published into the notes/comments of Podio-generated calendar items when those items are published to an external calendar?
I love having my Podio date/time items published in my iOS calendar. What would be even more useful is to be able to open the item, click on the link back to the Podio item inside the calendar entry, and open that item inside the Podio iOS mobile app (instead of directing to the Podio mobile website via the iOS browser as an earlier commenter indicated).

It looks like this should be possible on android via the intent method http://appurl.org/docs/android Possible to get this added to the android app?

What is the status on this? This has been an issue for us for some time.
Our use case is similar and simpler. Clicking on a url of any workspace, app, or app item in an email or sms or mms app on a mobile device (Android or iOS) opens the equivalent workspace, app, or app item in the Podio mobile app on the same device.
This is a very common feature on many apps. Usually, the first time you use a particular lnk, an option applet asks which app you want to open for this type of link and whether you want to open that type of link in that app every time or just once.
We send out automated reminders and notifications on email and sms using GlobiFlow, and we generate a lot of traffic with our sales personnel, photographers, and clients, and this capability would provide much more efficiency and less frustration.
Two related issues (one of which was generated more recently) are at:
