Workspace Contacts - How Necessary Are They?
I am new to Podio & I hope I can clearly explain what I am trying to do...
I am entering in new clients into Podio & I have been using the standard "Contact" Building Block.
I am trying to take each new client and add their name and email to my autoresponder (aweber or mailchimp) so I can send them my newsletters every couple weeks. (Or, take their information and automatically sync it into a Google Spreadsheet.)
The only way I have found to get Podio information over to my other websites / software are through bridges like Zapier or ItDuzzIt. The problem is that these programs can't communicate with Podio's "Contact" feature and get basic information like Name and Email. (The problem is on Podio's end I think.)
Now, I discovered that if I just create NEW Text fields for "Name" & "Email", I can access this data and integrate them with my third party apps. With me so far?
So my question is this... Is it a big deal to not use the "Contact" building block when building my apps? Does it really matter down the road if I just create new fields for "Name", "Email", "Phone", "Street Address", "City", etc...?
What kind of impact will that create when I am using other apps?
See this screenshot to see what I am talking about: http://screencast.com/t/d7sKSGal
Thanks!!!

No - never got an answer. I am not using Podio's "Contacts" feature for a couple reasons:
1) I'm having a hard time using services like zapier and itduzzit to pull information out of Podio's "contacts"
2) For some reason, you STILL can not add a contact on any mobile device or ipad in Podio using their "Contacts" building block.
So yes, all my Apps have separate fields for name, phone, email, etc. I haven't had any problems with it.
