Can workspace be spun off into a new account?

Hi,

I'm a virtual assistant that uses separate workspaces for each of my clients. A concern of ownership has come up. If a client starts with me and finds they like Podio and want to move all of their "stuff" to their own Podio account, is it an easy and seamless process? We wouldn't want to have to download all documents and then re-upload into a new account.

Hey Joanne,

You can access all data via the API if you have a developer to assist you: https://developers.podio.com/ - and you can clone the apps to use them in another space and organisation (if you are a member of both). To transfer content from the apps you can use excel export - import but it is not a one-click process.

Sara,

Thank you for the information.

FYI: From a customer perspective, mine, Podio may be missing sales opportunities by making this process of growing from a workspace to a separate account so difficult. My clients may get introduced to Podio and then want to grow into their own account, but if this is hard they may migrate completely to a different collaboration system.

I see your point indeed. Hopefully we can make this easier in the future.

Hi Joanna,

I run a virtual assistant business too. What I tend to do is create a workpsace with my client to use for things like passwords, timesheets etc, and tasks. Once they are comfortable I then get my client to create their own workspace and invite me, meaning that eveything we build is in the clients name

Hello Pat,
I like the idea of using it for passwords and a few other docs until the client gets comfortable with Podio. Asking them to use it all at once, tends to be too overwhelming for them.

if you bombard them to start with it is too much and as a virtual assistant we are meant to be making it easier for them. Best to have one workspace for tracking hours and payments, passwords and nda's , and then help them to create their own. Also some clients will want you to manage other freelancers and so best for them to have their own which you are invited to
