    Hey all,

We have now added extra advanced workflows to Podio - given you more conditional logic in Podio.

Currently you can create and update related items based on conditions in your workflow. We also hope to add the option to update existing item, not only related. Learn more here: https://help.podio.com/hc/en-us/articles/204366037-Advanced-workflows

As an overall critique, I really feel like Podio has gotten away from it's core competencies. Podio and its Workspaces and Apps, do things no other program can do for our company - that's why I use it! It's a one-stop shop that creates an item for every piece of business we have. But the Podio team continues to add more and more features that I could get elsewhere, while letting it's core - the Workspaces and Apps, languish in essentially the same state they were a year ago when my company started using it. Chat, video, etc. are all fancy schmancy additions that added capabilities that I could do before elsewhere. Meanwhile something as basic to Podio's inherent functionality as conditional logic remains ignored.

Again, I say this as Podio's biggest fan! My staff and co-workers laugh at the frequency with which I refer them to Podio and say "You can do that with Podio!" It's the running joke around the office. I just hope this critique comes up at a developers' meeting, and you consider that maybe you're focusing on new users (and bells and whistles) at the cost of disappointing current users who are asking for things like better backup and restoration capabilities and conditional logic - which seem like no-brainers to those of us using the system.

    Thanks Podio! Still love ya!

Podio should allow showing or hiding template/form fields based on a user's selection or input.
Example: For a recruitment app, different fields would be shown or hidden based on the status of the application (Interviewed / / Rejected / Hired / etc.)

An alternative to this would be to automatically move/copy items to other apps based on a category selection though this would probably be a lot more complicated to implement.
In this case a potential candidate's application would be moved from app to app as they reach different stages of their application. This would especially come handy when a successful applicant reaches the final stage and gets hired. In this case, some of the item's data would be copied from the Candidate's app to the Staff app automatically upon clicking on the "hired" label.

Is the Podio team planning to implement any of the above mentioned features in the near future? We would find such features really useful! Thanks!

I believe that adding this ability will greatly enhance the product as a true workflow manager, without it makes it weaker. You have an good product here, make it GREAT! and add conditional logic.

    Hey guys,

This is indeed something we are considering to add. We will keep you updated here when we have news on this. No timeframe yet.

Agreed.  Its tough for me to move to podio without conditional logic in the forms.  It severely limits what I can do with this.

As we use podio more, it's becoming more necessary to have logic in our forms.  It's getting too unwieldy otherwise and we're having to clarify things that shouldn't have to be clarified.

This question/recommendation was in specific to webforms (hiding/showing podio fields) based on if/then conditional logic. The official answer is Advanced Workflow, however, it appears this isn't quite the OP was asking for. Are there any updates coming to the webform to add showing/hiding of fields based on answers to other fields in the webform?

This is a feature we would also find useful. We have many things in our projects that are conditions for something else so this would make managing projects less cumbersome.

Thanks for the update Sara. This of course takes a backseat to backups for me and almost everyone else I'm sure. Keep it on the list and I'm sure later this year or early next it will creep to the top of the list.

Thanks to you and the Podio team for listening.

+1. Without conditional logic its not really workflow for me and forces me to look elsewhere which I would rather not do.

I agree that conditional logic should be added as it helps organize workflow. Thank you for listening Podio, it'll be that much better with it.

@Sara Hoeg, is there an update on the status of this?

    This would be super useful.

@everyone else, make sure to vote for this.  I'm not sure to what degree it will speed implementation, but it couldn't hurt.

Appreciate the thoughts Stephen! I guess you will be happy to hear that our focus the next 6 months is to improve the core = the app.

Unfortunately no news yet - but I will make sure to keep you updated on this.

In addition, we should have conditional logic for the creation and management of app items, too. A good way to start would be creating email app like conditions that could be triggered on certain events. This would begin making Podio apps truly act like applications.

    +1 on conditional logic.

Is this on the build roadmap yet (i.e manage our expectations)?

Agreed.  Conditional Logic is an essential part of making Podio apps more capable of representing our real business processes.  All processes have logic in them (if this -> then that, else -> something different).  Right now we are forced to create multiple apps for handling different types of situations which is not ideal.  Please add conditional logic ASAP.

I'd really like to hear if/when Podio could be moving in this direction.

    Hey guys,

I have news for the trigger functionality you guys have been waiting for:
    http://blog.podio.com/2014/01/09/podio-workflows/

This is just the first step towards real workflow functionality and more dependencies - and we will be adding advancements going forward.

glad to see workflows to add a comment or task related to current item. what i'd really like is a workflow to add a related item in a different app within the same workspace. this would make it easy to created a nicely-linked business process that doesn't require the user to know what step comes next.
