    Hey Guido,

If you are just looking to update an app with new data you can use the key to import new information without deleting the existing items and comments.

When you import, make sure to use the 'key' for a unique field, such as the title field. When you do this, Podio will not create duplicates of items that already exist with e.g. that exact title. Instead it will search first to see if an item with that title exists, if it does it will update the item (instead of creating a duplicate), if it doesn't exist already. it will create a new item.

Maybe you can create a test app with test data and comments and try this "key" feature before trying the real data?

I am having the same problem, I'm merging multiple apps from different workspaces into the same app on a different workspace. Thus I can't just clone the app. I'm able to import the information from one app to another with the excel but I have to manually import the files and comments from the other apps to the new workspace.

Is there any way around this? I'm working with hundreds of items.

It's possible to use the import feature and not lose your comments, votes, star ratings, etc., but only as long as you use the keys. The problem is when someone accidentally uploads via Excel without turning on the correct key. However, to my understanding, Podio won't actually delete content because of an Excel import. So it will simply add an extra row/item, which can be deleted, and then you can try again.

Now we just need (1) a way to delete multiple items at once (2) an undo feature. Those would be very much appreciated. If someone does the Excel upload and then realizes they have to delete all the content they just added, they have to delete each row/item individually. Are there undo and/or delete features on the horizon for Podio?

Lauren, as far as I can tell, there's no way around the issue you describe. That's another feature that it would be nice to have without dealing with engineers and the API: the ability to export/import/archive comments, ratings, etc.

Exporting comments should be a built-in feature.

Everybody I know is using comments to add content about something (otherwise it gets just too much entries in an app and Podio becomes useless).

Podio is incredible, EXCEPT.... the inability to edit and export comments (for non-developers) is a deal killer.

    +1!

I agree completely with Marko "Exporting comments should be a built-in feature."

And FYI, Guido, there are a LOT of comments from users on numerous pages here asking for the ability to export/import or clone/move comments along with the apps/items that need to get moved or cloned.

For many Podio users, comments are an important part of items in Apps - to be able to move them or export/import them EASILY (read: non-developers) when other content is exported/imported is a must-have.

Please add this feature. I update cases with comments and tasks, I need to backup weekly, just in case, and the comments is where the real action takes place.

+1!! I am working with Podio for HR management purpose, evaluating candidates, relating them to job positions, etc. Of course, the comment feature is a must when it comes to add content to a particular candidate and keep the item updated with what's really happening. If I should share that Item exporting the content out of Podio, all the comments are lost. So please, Podio Team, keep up the excellent work you are constantly performing, and give us comment exportability so that we - as users - can spread the good word of Podio even more!! :)) Thanks.

Comments has to be an export/import function. It is probably one of the biggest limitations I run into with using podio. Or if there was a way to "clone" an app with the comments. Or just "move" an app between workstations. That would be tremendous.

Amen, we need to export comments! I just realized that I cannot export comments and it is a big deal as I need to give monthly reports to our customers on repairs we do here and they need all the details which are usually put into the comments section on each repair!

Thanks for voting on this guys - Unfortunately there are currently no plans for this, it can currently be done via our open API - we are constantly reevaluating ideas and how to improve our features so please remember to add you use-case when voting so we can see what you need it for.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and ideas - and please keep the votes coming!

We've been asking for this for years (see posts going back to 2016), and I'm still perplexed why the original company and now Citrix are unwilling to do this for it's users.
