Can we get Podio off line?
AnsweredOur clients are increasingly asking about this when we encourage them to work more collaboratively and its is becoming a critical factor in their adoption of the platform

I use London Underground - no internet access there. Especially when coming back from meetings journey time would be perfect to add notes, tasks etc. into the system. Unfortunately, I can't as podio needs internet access.
What I would imagine is that it will sync automatically when I'm back online. Any chances?

It would be great to have offline access to turn on and off viewing for selected apps?
e.g. if you have staff working in off-line areas it would be great to switch to offline viewing. This way you will have the information relevant to your mission: project visualizations, construction drawings, work plans, project plans, contact persons, details on agreements, meetings etc.
You would even be able to continue posting contents to your selected apps offline. This way Podio could autosync when online again, getting back in touch with fresh data from the field. If only selected apps are synced then it wouldn't require more than 100-500 mb of smartphone storage. -
+1 from me. I have been telling a client about how good Podio is and how flexible it would be for them, but not having an offline mode does make it unusable for their operational requirements. Not only that, for many businesses, the concern would be not having a local copy of the data. I know you can export data from each app to Excel, but that is not the same.
Could something like this not be implemented by having a Dropbox type set up, so that data is first synched to the storage area on the computer, then immediately synched to the Podio cloud storage?

Impressed with the project having just started trialing it, however working across the UK and spending at least of half of my time in areas with no connection having an offline mode is pretty essential, being restricted to having half of my time when I cannot make comments, assign jobs/tasks to any staff or start new projects etc etc might just be too limiting for us, we would really need an offline mode or App.

We spend many days at sea conducting research, where it would be wonderful to upload results to Podio. On arrival at port & then home, tasks waiting for us grab our attention, and while tending to them our colleagues are pacing. We upload images to Dropbox at sea, it automatically takes care of sending them to colleagues as we approach port, we would be so happy to have Podio do the same.

Off Line is an absolute must….as much as we'd all love to be connected 24/7 this can not be the case (even in big cities). I often work in a plane and in the car when traveling with colleagues and without access to all my latest stuff my productivity will fall of a cliff. We will have to stick with Daylite until Podio provides off-line availability.

How is offline functionality not already developed for this tool? Every app I use for collecting data in the field parks the input and syncs it when wifi is connected. If Podio developed offline capability in the next 90 days I would insist every new client of mine signs up as a Podio user. There is NO way any clients of mine would use Podio without offline capability. Seriously folks, just get this done. I could "crowd finance" the solution myself within 60 days, what's the hold up? This is not a "nice to have" feature, it is a "must have"!

Sara - I'm amazed by this response to be honest. I posted this request initially so of course this is something I care about. But you are getting consistent confirmation that this REALLY matters to your customers. Podio is all about helping people work better and we are telling you what it takes to get our users and customers to work better. Yes, we love the idea of real time stuff BUT many of our customers - the people we advocate Podio to - are still at first base and they can't avoid the off line realities. This lack - that other tools are recognising lives alongside of their real time benefits - could cost Podio dearly as other platforms start to offer this range of functionality. My company has been with Podio from the very beginning but there will come a time we have to make a choice and we will put our customers first. I'd love to stay loyal to your platform - but that requires you guys to take notice of this and respond beyond a recognition that this 'could be useful'. I think many of us are telling you its essential.

Sara, I have to agree whole heartedly with Hazel. Its like you have been reading these comments since November and keep acknowledging with the same thread. Its making me wonder if staying with your tool is the right strategy. If I don't get a more confident and deliberate responce I may need to keep shopping for the right solution. (so close to being usable, its a shame really). I need a yes or no answer and an expected time line if there is any possibility this can work. Sorry to be so blunt but I cant afford not to be a leader in my industry.
