Duplicate/clone a project

Our team does a lot of projects that have the exact same deliverables, tasks and timelines. Is there a simple way to create a project template that could then be duplicated/cloned? We do so many of these types of projects that the thought of recreating/building a new project each time doesn't make sense.

    Hi guys,

    What about using a workflow for when a new item is created, a pre-set number of deliverables and tasks would be created automatically?

    This can be done using the advanced workflows: https://help.podio.com/hc/en-us/articles/201194467-Automating-workflows 

    Every time a new project is created, Podio would automatically create the x number of deliverables and tasks you need.

    We need to be able to create task lists by project name.  We have about 5-10 set projects that are used over and over again and I really want to be able to just copy a previous project and have it set up exactly the same with all the tasks listed so we can check them off as they are completed.  Is this possible?

    Hey Brad, Ginger and Harrison, 

    I would actually use a custom-built app in Podio for this. You can build an app with multiple category fields that you use as a checklist. Then when you'd like to create a new checklist you can just create a new item in that app. I know quite a lot of customers who do this and they really like it.

    Did you ever get a straight answer to your question? We too would like to see a feature where we could setup a project template (including milestones or deliverables (w/tasks), etc).

    @Nate I'm not 100% sure if there was a solution to this request. When I made the initial inquiry, I didn't have a lot of time to wait before choosing a PM tool. Unfortunately, I moved on from Podio at that time due to the lack of the clone feature. They may have it now, but I haven't looked at Podio for a while now to be certain. All the best! Brad

    So I take it that because (as recent as) 3 months ago folks here were STILL asking for the clone project feature to include cloning deliverables, milestones etc., it's still not available? Any timeline for this? I want to get rid of my Zoho Projects so bad (team hates it, I'm the only one that can tolerate it) and Podio seems like it would be so much simpler (Podio is great for our 'leads' but once we have a deal that requires the same series of tasks I have to put the lead in Zoho as a 'Project'). But Like so many business owners out there we have a product and system in place to deliver that product to our clients/customers CONSISTENTLY. Thus our project management needs to be consistent. Don't see myself switching to Podio for Project Mgmt. without this simple functionality included.

    @Ibrahim thank you for your feedback. There is no ETA for this feature but we are always working hard to improve Podio and listen to your needs. Feel free to sent us a support ticket and we can look at your workflow and figure what we can achieve with Podio :)

    This feature would be incredibly useful.  Many years ago (before Podio) we used a Mac-based CRM called Daylite which allowed for "Default Task Sets" to be used to achieve this very thing.

    Would love to see Podio make a feature enhancement in this regard.

    That's what I've been doing but it's a clumsy workround.

    Particularly as that can only happen in one app  as far as I can see.  Plus if I change something in the project template it won't follow through to the existing projects.

    It's taken some time but I have found an excellent solution to this problem.

    I am able to create task lists and then copy them to new projects with ease.  This has made life so much easier for me.

    The solution is Trello :-)
