Mail Merge Support
Hey Guys/Gals,
The number 1 feature request i get from my team is document mail merge support. This is a feature supported by lots of other CRM products including Salesforce, Batchbooks etc
I wonder if this is in the pipeline for Podio? One suggestion is to create a Google document from template using the information stored in Podio? That way you only have to intigrate the Google API and not build a whole new feature set.

We do this. As soon as a project is created, we create a Google Drive folder and a document (the quote). The quote gets all data from the project; relation, contact, date, description, etc.

This is all done by Google Apps Scripting and using a simple Google Doc with some mergetags as basis.Feel free to contact me if interested.

We use a Google Apps script for that. We make a Google Doc which we use as template, and use %external_id% in the Google Doc to match the corresponding podio-field.
We built it ourselves, but it might be interesting to make some sort of common script available. What hits us most is the time available to make it usable for a broader audience. Working on that!

I'm amazed at how difficult it is to produce a reasonable looking letter. Globiflow pdf maker puts the address on a single line. I failed to figure out how to get zapier to work with google docs. It just hangs on the last step, and there is no one to get help from. Surely Podio is not going to leave us hanging like this, so close to a perfect product??? I guess I will use Globiflow to issue an email, then we can copy and paste into word. REALLY??? Any other suggestions?

It certainly would be Riël - Just setting up Podio for my VA to use, and I'm considering the best (and most efficient) method of getting her to make our offers AND have some kind of traceability.
If there was a way to have Podio automatically generate the offer via Google Docs/Sheets (whatever), and send it out via Click2mail - that would be a real time saver and also has the potential to avoid any mistakes!
Please keep us in the loop if you're developing something for the wider audience.

Here is the solution that I came up with. It will automatically merge your data into a PDF after any action (ie. button pressed, new item created, item updated) and attach it to the Podio item and send you an email. That's how I set it up. The pdf is for my records and to print, and the email is for me to post to social media. It's just $9/mo for the subscription.
