More advanced calculations
CompletedI was wondering if there were any thoughts on allowing more advanced calculations. I would like to keep track of all the payments I receive from clients through various different apps I have.

Hey everyone! Great news :) With the big release today, you can now perform far more advanced calculation to the brand new Calculation field.
We have an article to explain how this works here:

Thank you everyone for being so patient on this. We hope this can help you get your work done even more efficiently :)

Love the idea simply because I can't use a negative number in my calculations (which in turn is only needed because I can't input negative numbers for 'amounts' on the mobile platform).
Note: I'm using a custom 'Transactions' app to keep up with my company finances because I'm a sole proprietor that does freelance contract work. I was pumped until I found I can't enter a negative transaction on mobile. I could use an if/then statement logic, negative entry, or combination to get what I want but it's not available.
My only workaround is a recurring task to check my transactions and update expenses accordingly - not a big deal for a shop of one but not terribly efficient either.
Still loving Podio - saving me money, time and improving my life!

Thumbs up.
Maybe a real report tool with more robust calculation, filtering by criteria, export to PDF / XLS, etc. Of course this functionality must be well planned, following PODIO philosophy and UX quality.
I missed this functionality when my client asked me for a report of deliverables that were In progress with their average progress. I wasnt able to make -
A great function here would be for creating dashboard apps. So if I had an app of all open sales opportunities submitted by resellers that included data like "Number of seats", Amount of Revenue, etc. I could create a dashboard app that allows me to total and entire column in the aforementioned app to see total amount of revenue in the pipeline and total number of seats at stake. An additional feature would be to be able to break that down by date if there was a date associated with the aforementioned numbers.

This is one of the only things about Podio that leaves me a little underwhelmed, so it'd be great to see some work in this area.
Ability to perform string operations on text/number fields. Eg. Our deliverables each have a number field. It would be nice to be able to view all the numbers for all the deliverables at the project level. i.e. string concatenation with a delimiter would be sufficient.
Calculations on date fields, with ability to reference the current date/time. Displaying no. of days until deadline would be clearer than the date itself.
If either of these are possible and I've missed it, please let me know!

I would also like calculations on date field. I have birthday's inputed (currently as text, not as a date since doing so would mean the date and not the image would appear in badge mode).
The birthday itself is not important. What is important is current age, so doing a calculation that can include a variable "today's date" would allow me to always see each person's age.

We're in the process of designing a web form that lets us design advanced calculations using drag-and-drop, that are performed via the API (date calculations was a big annoyance for us as well - we want to see which Invoices are overdue).
We'll provide the source on Github for anyone who wants it - may even set it up as a web service if people are interested.

Calculations on Dates is a must when a workflow is under Service Level Agreements, for example a task or step must take no longer than xx days / hours.
I suggest you to provide a date operator that calculates the difference between the second and first date of podio standard date control: can be very useful to report time durations, or actual vs. planned deadlines (very used as service level indicators).
It would be very powerful to set a unique date control in forms like "Deliverable published on date (planned/actual)" and being able to report on it.

My vote is for calculations based on criteria, especially categories. As it is now, we are having a hard time running calculations based on specific deliverable types since all our deliverables are in one app. The only solution for us at the moment would be to break out each type of deliverable into different apps, which would not only be a pain, but would defeat the purpose of the category feature of the app builder for us.
Please do this soon! :)

I'll throw my hat into expanded calculations as well.
The scenario I'd like to see is as follows:
- Orders App that references a series of product listed in another app
- In the Orders App, being able to select a Customer along with multiple products each with their own quantity
This would require the ability to record multiple records for the same field.
