More advanced calculations
CompletedI was wondering if there were any thoughts on allowing more advanced calculations. I would like to keep track of all the payments I receive from clients through various different apps I have.

I think from a development standpoint this would also solve one other challenge. Since you would have to get access to the field level to calculate multiple fields, you could also map the value from one field to another. ie. if i have a value in an item under an app, perhaps, I can map the field from a different app to it.

I am greatly looking forward to the advanced calculation. I don't understand why podio cannot merely do what excel can, for example
I list progress bars and they come to be in this number format
80
95
70
85
Then take those cells in Podio ex: A3:A7. This should not be a problem for podio to run. It is merely modifying the numbers added or subtracted together before a formula is ran. You may take that number and then run a calculation. A simple requirement is that all cells that shall be added, subtracted must be after one another. I really hope to see this come true as this feature would set Podio over the top!

Hey Jeremy,
Simply difficult to prioritize everything at once :) We are planning to create an update and improved app builder and hopefully more advanced calculations will be a part of the new app builder. As always, I am not able to provide a specific timeframe but we have the improved app builder listed in the roadmap for 2014.

I agree. It's sort of there in a non measurable way because you can see what the date was that an item was actioned but i haven't found a way to interact with that to like do a calc on it but presumably the date information is stored as a timestamp on the item and each comment that is added to it and could be looked up.

Love the idea simply because I can't use a negative number in my calculations (which in turn is only needed because I can't input negative numbers for 'amounts' on the mobile platform).
Note: I'm using a custom 'Transactions' app to keep up with my company finances because I'm a sole proprietor that does freelance contract work. I was pumped until I found I can't enter a negative transaction on mobile. I could use an if/then statement logic, negative entry, or combination to get what I want but it's not available.
My only workaround is a recurring task to check my transactions and update expenses accordingly - not a big deal for a shop of one but not terribly efficient either.
Still loving Podio - saving me money, time and improving my life!

Hey Tobias Johansson,
Good question. To be very honest: we don't like to promise a specific timeframe - if I promised you an update but we didn't make it to the release after all you would all have been very disappointed. I actually added a comments 2 months back to let you know that this was a part of the roadmap :) This was my comment two months ago:

Hope you all enjoy like the improvement!
