Archive Workspaces
CompletedI'd love the option to archive a workspace. I use workspaces for current, major projects. When the project is complete it would be nice to move it out of the workspace list without having to delete it all together.
Any plans on implementing something like this?

There is not a specific threshold - we have a long list of feature requests if you check this Forum and we are not able to prioritize everything at once unfortunately.
For example this request: https://help.podio.com/entries/23220251-Add-Month-Week-Views-To-Calendar is something we have wanted to fix for a long time and it has a lot more votes (the top voted in the Forum) - so we will prioritize a better calendar view soon.
Thanks for all the votes - keep them coming :)
I am interested if any of you use the "search function" to search for the workspace you pick - or if you use the mouse to pick it manually?

Hi,
An alternative might be to let organizations / users decide for themselves how many workspaces they would like to display. Since podio will push the most active to the top anybody ends up with what they want.
The feature to go via g+[workspace] or s+[workspace] is definitely nice but especially for beginners this might be confusing. In cases it is hard enough to get people on podio in the first place. If they then feel they cannot achieve the same degree of oversight as they are used to is not a seller. I guess only more experienced users / those who simply like doing anything with the keyboard will want to go for the all shortcut approach.

Podio has revolutionized my work and I'm so grateful to the developers for, well, developing it.
I'm a single user, but I about 15 workspaces, some active and some old. I thought I had a good work-around for archiving--simply make another organization called Archive and move the workspaces into the new organization.
However, I don't seem to be able to drag the workspaces into the new organization. Is this possible?

Not sure if this would work for people, but I keep all my website projects in an app under a project mgmt workspace. Since you can archive an app, once there are many projects in it I suppose I could edit and rename the app Archived Projects +*Timeframe*, just add the same app again and start fresh!

The only problems with renaming a workspace are:
1 - if you have lots of employees in an organisation, they would never remember and would not be able to find a workspace
2 - if you forget to rename... confused.com
3 - if you rename a workspace then the URLs change and so does the auto email system if you use that.
The simplest way to find something in a huge list (which is why an archive would be useful, is to hide some of that long list) is to fo CTRL F and start typing - this works anywhere on Podio in fact, as long as it shows on the screen, so you would need to see all workspaces for this to work..
I too would love Archive, but I would love a lot of things and you just cannot please everyone all of the time. Podio is great. .. live with the current limitations ... find a work around ... ask nicely and things will improve I am sure (they usually do).

I could have sworn we had the "archive workspace" option before ... It's very important to have this capability. There are a lot of projects being filtered through PODIO and as mentioned above it would be nice to "archive" a workspace once the project is complete. This is a project management tool yet it's not conducive to our project management. Archiving should be a standard feature... hard to believe that it's on a "wish list".
-
Thought... and its only half a thought ... we can create more than one organisation so can we not create an organisation called "archive" and move stuff to that?
I told you it was half a thought... next question would be how do you simply move all the activities, conversations and files etc to the new organisation... ???
Unless... you have a new email that then creates the archived organisation and we can share that space and then remove members?
hmm

+1 for the archiving. Though Podio is a great tool, it does fall behind to some other platforms such as Basecamp for example. I won't switch easily, but managing the workspaces is something badly needed. Many organizations have tens, sometimes hundreds workspaces. And of course you shouldn't be subscribed to all of them, but being the CEO it's nice to see what's going on.
So instead of the new features like Workflow (which is nice to have) please focus on the needs to have and study closely how your users use Podio. Managing workspaces is one of them.
Thx
Erik

Podio, please let us know the items you're working on. I sent your page a message on Facebook. We hear a lot about what how you have a long to-do list, but never what's on it, or when. These things are really preventing me from becoming a paid user of your service, and I can't get my team to trust Podio 100% when we run into these stumbling blocks that require either crazy work arounds, or a change in our workflow. There ARE good workflows out there, but ours does not mimic them. Many others are feeling the same way. Please respond with a specific answer, thank you.

Hey Rogan and Emma
No immediate plans for this I'm afraid - I will keep you updated here when we have any news. It is something we hope to look into later but as you know I cannot promise a specific timeframe (we don't like to make promises that we might not be able to keep - as you know things change and our team likes to work agile and with flexibility).
Currently we are working on a new improved design and functionality for the activity stream, the app builder, and the item. These are areas that we haven't done any significant changes to since Podio launched from beta 3 years ago and therefore we think it will be useful for all Podio users to see some improvements in this area.
Please keep the votes and feedback coming!
