Archive Workspaces
CompletedI'd love the option to archive a workspace. I use workspaces for current, major projects. When the project is complete it would be nice to move it out of the workspace list without having to delete it all together.
Any plans on implementing something like this?

Hey guys,
I have some great news to share today. We have built the option to manage and archive workspaces from the workspace navigation in left panel. Thanks for helping us improve! :)
Read more about the new functionality here: http://blog.podio.com/2015/02/16/report-visualization-workspace-archiving/

Hi Bryan,
What we have done is actually to show only the 7 most used workspaces as soon as you have more than 10 workspaces in your organisation. Not sure how many workspaces you have yourself at this moment?
At Podio we have many many workspaces, and we want to archive and save information for all of them. So that's why we made this "show most used" function, which automatically have all your other workspaces visible when you click "more workspaces".
You can then tell people that they are free to leave the workspace if it's no longer used, then you can stay in the workspace yourself to keep it visible.
Hope this can help you? Just let me know.

I like to use those 7 as a quick scan of current projects... since they appear alphabetically, there's no way to ensure they are current projects, unless I renamed them with numbers or some such.
These workarounds can certainly be done, but a true archive system would still be superior.
Thanks for the reply,
~ Bryan

I agree with Bryan on that. Giving the ability to group workspaces in a folder would take care of:
a) archiving, because we could create a folder named Archives
b) when we have many workspaces and want to group them
It seems like adding folders would be a relatively easy thing to add since it's usually fairly basic tech to do.
The show only 7 spaces thing doesn't work unless you have more than 10, so you're looking at spaces each day you don't use and clutter your life. Also, if a person gets over 10 spaces, and then wants to view all active, non-archived spaces and clicks view more, they will see old obsolete ones and have to figure out they're old and to ignore them. So for those reasons, it seems like archiving and folders likely should be a somewhat core building block.

I'd like to second Bryan & Howie's request (I guess that makes it 'thirding'?) Being able to archive a workspace would reduce clutter considerably - and it may just be me but I get really bad 'clutter creep' with Podio. So, yes, I also vote for creating and archive function. Cheers.

Hi everybody, same here aswell. Possibility of archiving or grouping of Workspaces is urgently needed. Hoping on a solution/function soon. It's possible for the App's. Is it that much more to aslo apply to the workspaces? Looking forward on a work around or a possibility soon ;-). greets silvan

Hey Emma, personally I think that would be a bit cluttered, if the comments suddenly had a button where you could "vote" on them. We prefer to have that in new questions, so if you have a new question that you'd like to add, go here and click to add a new question.
About the archiving of projects, perhaps you can use a category field in the app for this? So if you Modify the app and add a category field to it. Then name the categories "Working on" and "Archived" for example.
Now you can Filter and report based on that Category field, so only see the active projects.
Hope that helps!

Hi Gustav,
Thanks for the answer. I think that the feature request though is more about archiving workspaces though, not projects, which is less of a problem. Your workaround doesn't solve the workspace problem. There's another thread here as well, requesting an archiving feature - see:
https://help.podio.com/entries/21763877-archiving-workspaces
There's no way of archiving workspaces currently, and it quickly becomes very messy. I'd also like something like the functionality the original poster Bryan mentioned.
All the best
Anders
