How do I archive completed projects?
AnsweredOnce a project is at 100%, how do we remove that from the main project page and store the completed (100%) project in an archived state?

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the feedback and input. No current plans on this but we do have it listed and appreciate all your comments and use-cases. There is a few threads on the same topic and idea so we are monitoring this closely:

I have to chime in too. Whether it's projects or deliverables, our company must have a way to sort out archived items automatically. Changing the view doesn't work because I can't filter archived for all team members and having to do an action more than once is a complete waste of time.
The more projects I track with Podio, the more unwieldy it becomes.

+1 for archiving. We're using Podio in magazine publishing and need to archive completed pages for each new issue. I track sales using the formula tiles and it's incorporating all sales from previous issues, not just new issues. Major issue for us. Curious why archiving isn't on the road map when there's clearly a need.

Podio Team: What I think we are all trying to accomplish as users is the opposite from what you are suggesting as a "filter solution."
My use case: Everywhere else in podio (i.e. references), my 'completed' deliverables will also show up in lists to select from making it cumbersome. Also, my 'completed' deliverables are added into the calculations and reporting figures.
Common Use: Contrary to you you are suggesting, some of us may WANT the "archived/completed/inactive" deliverables to show up in the deliverables page--that is the point. Doing this allows us to see what we have achieved, calculate completion rates, and turn back to them later (we know we can filer them out before printing or whatever).
Common issues: We do not want the "completed" deliverables to show up elsewhere. They skew our reporting and make it difficult to reference/locate/deal with the deliverables that are active and being worked on. Example: When look at the projects page, it reports as if one project may have 30 deliverables attached and thus left to deal with. In all actuality, there may only be five left. When we go to deliverables page - thats when we can se all 30 and see which are completed.
My personal solution: add a behavior field to the app building. When we add the field there are a number of actions that can be taken in future. The one we are interested in for this forum is a "hidden" behavior. The field shows a toggle switch. Once toggled on, the item has different behaviors throughout the workspace.
Example: 1. I add a behaviors field in the template editor -> 2. I caption the field "Completed" -> 3. I select the behaviors from the list (similar to calculations) in this case I select "hide from reports" + "hide from calculations" + "Hide from relationships" (or hide from all) -> 4. save the template -> 5. when ready, I toggle the switch on that item to activate the behaviors.
This would help greatly in many other ways throughout Podio with great power and simplicity.

"Well Sara, with all due respect if it has to be "considered" to have it as feature then something is wrong...it should be a pretty basic feature not playing with filters."
we use the project app. and if a project is ready, it should be possible to click a "archive-button" to move this project to an archive list. this must a basic feature in podio. sorry.

In many ways this became as we say, a "solved problem", when Podio added filters for app references. Now that you can use a view as a filter, it is quite easy to decide which items should be listed when linking items.
And of course, because it's a general solution (using a view) instead of a specific one (archived/not), you can do even more powerful things with it.
