New UX Redesign for Item Views

I have been a loyal Podio user since 2013 (10 solid years). I love the incredible flexibility of Podio (especially with PWA), but the UX design is severely outdated and confusing for new users. With that in mind, this is what I propose to fix it.

WORKSPACE VERTICAL NAVIGATION MENU 

First, remove the menu from the top and put it as a vertical navigation menu. We should be able to hide/expand accordingly and scroll (valid for those workspaces with many apps). 

APP ITEMS MAIN WINDOW/LAYOUT

I wouldn't change anything on the window besides adding Gantt Charts (a feature requested ten years ago).

INDIVIDUAL ITEM VIEWS

Each item will allow the user to select from 1, 2, or 3 views. All active fields are in custom container windows created by the user. Each container box has its custom name and the option to reorganize fields as the user desires (accomplished via modify template). The user can minimize/maximize any container box to have more space to work.

MODIFY TEMPLATE

The Modify Template will have three new features: 

• Active Fields - this window will have all the app's fields in order. Each field will have an ID (C1, C2, C3, etc.) to let the user know which box contains the field. From this window, the user can edit the field title and any options from the dropdown and drag/drop any field to container boxes. Additionally, the fields "Files," "Tasks," and "Related Items" will be available to drag/drop into any container window. One critical feature of this window is that users can reorganize fields in any order they like, which is essential for Podio Workflow Automation. Reorganizing here will not affect the container box that the field is at.
• View Selection - three icons to allow users to select which view they like for this app (one, two, or three windows). The user can choose only one option per app. 
• Box Containers - this will create container boxes to drag-drop active field items into. The user should be able to create as many container boxes as possible (by clicking the "New Container" button) and have the ability to change the container name. There will be two default containers. The first is the "Default Container" (or C1), which cannot be deleted, and an "Activity/ Comments" container that the user must position in the view. The "Default Container" will have "Files," "Tasks," and "Related Items" fields when the app is initially created, but the user should be able to move the fields to any other container. The user should be able to edit the fields inside any container and drag/drop them to different containers at any time. The user will be able to delete containers. When a container is deleted, any fields in that container will revert to the "Active Fields" window, and the user must drag/drop them to a new container. The user cannot "Save/Done" unless all fields are inside a container. Finally, the user will be able to drag/drop new fields from the "Fields" window (this is the current Podio fields window) into either the "Active Fields" or a Container Box to create any new field item. If the user drags/drops a new field to the "Active Fields," then the field will be automatically added to the "Default container box (C1)." If the user drags/drops a new field to a container box, then that field will be added at the bottom of the list of active fields (later, the user can rearrange as they see fit).

After ten years as a loyal Podio user, I would love to see this UX redesign implemented. I believe this UX change could make Podio the most powerful and flexible CRM in the market. 

Please, Podio team, consider this, and for the love of living friends, don't wait ten years to make it happen.
